We always anticipated that these bungalows would sell well, and with only one remaining, time is quickly running out to buy one of very few new build bungalows.

So why are new build bungalows so hard to find?

Bungalows are typically what we would call ‘plot heavy’, which means that on a site where you could expect to fit 4 bungalows, you could probably fit 6 houses. The reason being is because you are fitting all accommodation on one level, so that’s hallways, living space, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen all on ground floor level. In a house, your bedrooms and bathrooms can be raised at first floor level. If you are a developer, 9 times out of 10, two-storey houses will be your choice as they offer the maximum return.

Yet, with an ageing population, the demand for bungalows is higher than ever before. Plus the stigma which was once attached to bungalows is no longer there; plenty of younger people and families will now consider buying bungalows.
