Money Laundering Regulations - Lettings

Lettings | 28/03/17   Cheryl Slater MARLA

Following many months of ambiguity regarding whether Money Laundering regulations will be imposed on Lettings Agents, the HM Treasury has announced their intention not to regulate lettings activity.

This may come as a bit of a shock to our readers, and indeed we were all geared up to go, but it seems at this time, they have decided not to introduce another hurdle for our landlords.

As many of you will have heard, there have been numerous pieces of legislation introduced over the past 12 – 18 months to make for a safer industry, for example the installation of carbon monoxide alarms. We don’t disagree that many of these are very important, it’s just that for our landlords, it can feel like there is a never ending check list to satisfy before they get any return.

So for the time being, this is one less thing for our landlords to worry about.

At a time of change, sometimes it just makes sense to have an agent look after the management of your property so you are complying with all the legislation necessary. If you’d like to discuss our management service, please contact 01376 322222 or email lettings@joscelynechase.co.uk
