BRAINTREE AND BOCKING GARDEN FETE
6th  September 2008

Joscelyne Chase were recently asked to support a charity fete at Braintree & Bocking Public Gardens which were a gift to the town in 1888 by Sydney Courtauld and his wife and now supported by voluntary donations. Always ready to support worthy local causes the team arrived at the gardens on September 6th to set up their new small marquee. Led by partners John Chase and Chris Woodhouse, plus retired partner Brian Joscelyne they had the assistance of staff members Linda Sharpe and Alison Chase.

Money raising attractions included ‘guess the price of this house’ (some sales 100 years ago!), ‘guess the number of house keys in a glass jar’ all at 50p a go. Also attracting visitors were maps of the locality dated 1920/21 plus some of the town centre back in 1875. About a dozen visitors ordered copies which showed their home at that time, or what the locality was like if it had yet to be built! All proceeds were divided equally between the Public Gardens and PARC Play and Resource Centre.
